Temporary exhibition curated by Alix Janta-Polczynski
A proposition by Alkinois, Athens
The Bridge of Dreams is an intimate, salon-style exhibition that brings together the works of 16 artists—some previous collaborators of Alkinois and others exhibiting together for the first time. This curated collection offers a moment of escape and timely reflection, inviting viewers to explore dreamlike landscapes and diverse narratives offered to their imagination.
These narratives encompass a range of themes, exploring personal identity, mythology, cultural heritage, and the human experience. By arranging works in close proximity, The Bridge of Dreams fosters a sense of unity and dialogue among diverse artistic expressions and techniques, including sculptures, ceramics, drawings, and paintings.
This harmonious constellation offers a pleasing and immersive experience—an invitation to travel, dream, and connect through the shared language of art. It aims to celebrate beauty, providing a sanctuary of lightness and hope amidst the challenges of the contemporary world.
About the curator:
Based between London and Athens, Alix Janta-Polczynski is engaged in various independent projects. Since 2018, she runs the curatorial programme of the Athens-based project space and residency Alkinois which invites local and international artists and curators to produce and present commissioned or pre-existing bodies of work. In 2021, she opened an art bookshop cafe in the centre of the city, Adad Books, eponymous to her art publishing house where she proposes a diverse programme of events from book launches, to talks and exhibitions. She also curates exhibitions promoting emerging artists in various locations across London, Paris and Brussels.
Last year, with Alkinois she participated in Art Athina, the international art fair of Athens, in the “Project” section. In the past, she worked as the assistant of various curators such as Olivier Varenne, James Putnam and Oscar Humphries on large scale international projects. Prior to this, she co-founded in 2009 Art Barter, a platform to promote the use of barter between artists and the public through exhibitions. Successive events were held in London, Berlin, New York, Madrid, Istanbul, Mexico City and Dubai, amongst others.
The goal to support young talent materialised in 2012 through the creation of Alteria Art, a collaborative vehicle closely working with both emerging and established artists through an eclectic programme of exhibitions, talks and commissioned works.
