Lauren Bastide, host of the hit feminist podcast La Poudre (3.5 million listens) on why women’s solitude is a sign of freedom—not something to be frowned upon.
Registrations will open on August 1 at 6 PM.
It took centuries for women to conquer the right to be alone, to break free from the control of fathers, husbands, and society.
Now that they finally can, women still face a wave of stigma around solitude, imposed not just by society, but internalised by themselves.
In her upcoming essay 'Enfin Seule' (Allary Editions, September 2025), journalist, podcast host, and bestselling author, Lauren Bastide, makes a case for chosen female solitude and calls for a rehabilitation of women who live freely, beyond the norms of coupledom and motherhood.
Blending personal insight and historical reflection, she invites us to rethink what it means to be a woman alone: whether single, child-free, post-motherhood, or simply choosing independence.
In a conversation moderated by Sarah Halfin, Lauren will share with us why solitude isn’t a void, but a form of power and a marker of emancipation.
The conference will be followed by a book signing of 'Enfin seule' by Lauren Bastide (Allary Editions, 2025). A Sale organised by UOPC bookshop.
