Art Day

TheMerode Art Day, is a dynamic cultural moment that brings exhibitions, talks, and curated encounters into the heart of TheMerode.

By concentrating a series of art-led experiences into one carefully curated day, this format creates a singular destination – offering a stage for ideas that challenge conventions, while opening a space for exchange, perspective, and discovery.

Reflecting TheMerode’s place within today’s contemporary art scene, Art Day is an opportunity to experience the Club’s current exhibitions and engage in conversations led by internationally recognised artists, curators, and critics.

Visitors will discover:

• An exclusive preview of Brussels Art Week’s programme, in conversation with RendezVous founders Evelyn Simons and Laure Decock, offering an early look at the 2026 edition.
  
  
• The opening of Forms of the Unseen: Art and Invisibility, TheMerode’s new in-house exhibition curated by Laurence Dujardyn (SYBIL). The show unfolds around the elusive and multifaceted theme of “the invisible,” featuring works from the 1960s to today.
  
  
• The inauguration of the Marina Abramović Salon, marking the first step in TheMerode’s long-term initiative to dedicate its spaces to transformative artists who shape contemporary culture.
  
  
• A powerful public Art Matters talk featuring Noah Becker and Kendell Geers, on how to restore the power of artists to the centre of the art system.
  
  

Art Matters is TheMerode’s flagship art series, hosted by South African artist Kendell Geers. Each month, he invites a guest for a conversation on the myths and inner workings of the art world. It is driven by the belief that art is not passive, but an active force for change.

Both a platform and a statement, TheMerode Art Day highlights the Club’s commitment to art and to fostering meaningful connections between artists, collectors, and its community. Reinforcing its role as a cultural destination where art engages and Art Matters.
