Who are the Chinese oligarchs?

Christine Ockrent, geopolitical journalist lifts the veil on an impenetrable system and its actors in her new book “L’Empereur et les milliardaires rouges”.

They have become rich thanks to capitalism but live in a communist country. Who are they, these Chinese oligarchs who have enabled their country to become the world's second largest economy?
At a time when the Russian oligarchy is under scrutiny, the Chinese oligarchs remain completely anonymous. In her new book, L’Empereur et les milliardaires rouges*, Christine Ockrent, investigates this impenetrable system and its actors in the face of Xi Jinping’s probable re-election.

Who is behind these technology and real estate giants – from AliBaba to Didi, via Tencent and Huawei – that the government is trying to regain control of, even if it means breaking its springs? Can Xi Jinping succeed without the Red billionaires and impose Chinese supremacy on the world?

Join us and Christine Ockrent, specialist in European issues and the United States, for an engaging conference analyzing the specificities and secrets of Chinese capitalism.
