TheOtium Bar Tastings - Cave 1929

Exclusive Tastings with JML at TheOtium Bar

Join us for an immersive wine tasting experience celebrating discovery, conviviality, and the pleasure of exploring wine beyond conventions.

Hosted in collaboration with Cave 1929, this interactive session invites participants to discover a carefully curated selection of wines in a relaxed and engaging atmosphere. More than a traditional tasting, the experience is designed as a moment of exchange and sensory exploration, encouraging curiosity, conversation, and shared discoveries around the table.

Founded in Brussels in 2016 by Guillaume Brayel, Cave 1929 was born from a passion for wine and a family heritage deeply rooted in the industry. After beginning his career in communication and working alongside his father within the family wine business in northern France, Guillaume moved to Brussels to create a neighbourhood wine cellar focused on authenticity, accessibility, and human connection. The name Cave 1929 pays tribute to his great-grandfather, who began a wine bottling activity near Lens in 1929.

The tasting will be led by the current manager of Cave 1929, Timothée Immink, whose journey into the wine world began after experiences in hospitality and craft beer between Switzerland and London. He joined Cave 1929 in 2021 and now oversees the cellar with passion and expertise.

Throughout the evening, participants will have the opportunity to taste the full wine selection proposed by Cave 1929 on TheOtium's drink menu. Along the way, stories, anecdotes, and insights into wine culture, terroirs, and tasting techniques will enrich the conversation, creating an approachable yet educational atmosphere.

Designed as a convivial moment of discovery, this tasting experience offers a fresh perspective on wine—where sharing, intuition, and pleasure take centre stage.

Timothée Immink

Born in Lausanne, Switzerland, he left his Social Work studies in 2017 to enter the professional world directly. He first spent two years working in hospitality and the craft beer industry, experiences that sparked his passion for gastronomy, beverages, and customer experience. A few years later, he moved to London and decided to shift his career toward the world of wine, eager to explore a new industry and develop a more long-term professional path. After obtaining the WSET Level 2 certification — an essential qualification within the UK wine industry — he began working in an independent wine and delicatessen shop in Shoreditch, where he deepened his knowledge of wine, terroirs, and customer guidance. Growing up alongside a father passionate and knowledgeable about wine also naturally nurtured his interest from an early age. During the Covid period, he relocated to Brussels and joined Cave 1929 in October 2021, initially for what was meant to be a three-month experience. Several years later, he is now proudly managing the cellar and continuing to share this passion with the local community.
