TheMerode Cellar Society: In the Wine Vault of Hubert Bonnet

An Intimate Wine Tasting within Hubert Bonnet’s Private Collection

TheMerode invites you to an intimate and exceptional wine tasting hosted within the private universe of Hubert Bonnet, a leading figure in the contemporary art world.

Born in Belgium and now based in Switzerland, Hubert Bonnet has, over the years, built a remarkable collection focused on works from the 1960s to today, with a particular sensitivity for minimal and conceptual art. In 2012, he founded the Fondation CAB in Brussels — a non-profit space dedicated to supporting contemporary creation through exhibitions, residencies, and curated events. The foundation has since expanded internationally, notably to Saint-Paul-de-Vence.

For this exclusive gathering, guests will be welcomed into the refined setting of the Fondation CAB, a former 1930s Art Deco industrial building, beautifully restored into a luminous and minimalist space. Nestled near the Ixelles ponds, this unique venue offers a rare dialogue between architecture, art, and atmosphere.

Within this inspiring environment, Hubert Bonnet will open the doors to his personal wine collection, sharing a selection of carefully chosen bottles in an intimate and conversational format. This tasting is conceived as a moment of exchange and discovery, where wine, art, and storytelling naturally intertwine.

More than a tasting, this is a privileged encounter — an opportunity to step into a private world where passion, aesthetics, and curiosity meet.

Come by your own means and 15 minutes sharp before the beginning of the tasting.

Address: Fondation CAB, Rue Borrens 32–34, 1050 Ixelles

Hubert Bonnet

Passionate about travel and discovery since childhood, Hubert Bonnet benefitted from his studies abroad through enriching encounters and by developing new areas of interest. It was during this era that his passion for art was born, influenced by the audacity of creations by American artists. Qualifications in hand, the 27-year-old Hubert Bonnet moved to New York City and began his professional life as a trader for Cadogan Management. After the death of his mother in 1996, he returned to Belgium and became a director of Cobepa until the takeover bid by BNP Paribas in 2000. Then, while continuing his activities in the financial sector, he ventured into real estate and created his first company. With H Group, he created prestigious projects, acquiring unique properties and improving them with the savoir-faire of renowned architects. His clients were mainly private investors, concerned about the security of their investments. Today, after twenty years of operation, H Group has added its signature to a number of residences in Belgium, notably in the Prince d'Orange district of Uccle, Châtelain in Ixelles, in Zoute, the Dominican Republic, London, Paris, Ibiza and Saint-Tropez. Art collector and Promoter; having been passionate about art for many years, Hubert Bonnet is a collector who travels the world seeking out new talent, visiting art galleries, private viewings and international fairs, this aesthete is especially appreciative of minimal and conceptual art. In 2012, while looking for a place to store his works, Hubert Bonnet discovered an 800m2 former coal warehouse, just a few steps from the lakes of Ixelles. This location became the CAB, an independent art centre dedicated to the promotion of contemporary Belgian and international art. Each year it offers two thematic exhibitions – one from September to December and one from April to June – whereby it offers artists visibility in a place that is neither an institution nor a gallery. As director of the centre, Hubert Bonnet is involved in all levels of decision making, from the theme of the exhibition to the choice of artists.
