Katharina Pistor

Katharina Pistor is Professor of Comparative Law and Director of the Center for Global Transformation at Columbia Law School. A member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities, of the Academia Europaea and of the Club de Rome, she is also doctor honoris causa of the universities of Rotterdam and Antwerp. Her previous book, The Code of Capital: How the Law Creates Wealth and Inequality (Princeton UP, 2019), became an international best-seller. The Law of Capitalism (2025), its follow-up, is out with Yale University Press.

Laurent de Sutter

Laurent de Sutter is an award-winning author and publisher whose books have been translated into 15 languages. He runs the "Theory Redux" book series with Polity Press and "Perspectives Critiques" with Presses Universitaires de France. He also is a professor of Legal Theory at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Sciences-Po Paris. He recently published "Superweak: Thinking in the 21st Century” (Polity, 2025).
