An exhibition exploring the representation of flowers in art.
A universal subject in art history, from ancient painting and medieval illuminations to Flemish still lifes, modern photography, and conceptual works, the flower has been endlessly reinvented.
Curated by Gallery FIFTY ONE, “The Pistil’s Waltz” gathers works across painting, sculpture, and ceramics, each offering a distinct interpretation of the flower’s many lives. Jacques Henri Lartigue’s photography, Tony Matelli’s hyperreal bronze, and Philip Aguirre y Otegui’s gouaches reveal how a single motif can span cultures, eras, and artistic languages.
This visit offers a unique reading of a theme that is both simple and inexhaustible: the flower.
