The Art of Collecting

Make your first steps into the contemporary art world and the art of collecting with a panel discussion organized in collaboration with Art Brussels.

Join us and 4 prominent figures of the Belgian contemporary art world for a discussion on the art of collecting. Because collecting art is not only about buying an artwork, it is also about living with it.

Are you thinking about collecting art, but you don’t know where to start? The contemporary art fair Art Brussels and TheMerode are proud to welcome you to talk about the art of collecting with Benedicte Goesaert (art liaison & curator), Sofie Van de Velde (Founder & owner Gallery Sofie Van de Velde), Christophe Veys (director of the Centre de la Gravure et de l'Image Imprimée in La Louvière and collector) and Stéphanie Vandenecker (Head of VIP Relations Art Brussels).

The process of collecting art going from entering an art gallery, asking for prices, getting to know an artists’ work can sometimes seem overwhelming. How to start an art collection? Where and what to look at? Art galleries, art fairs and art advisors, who are the key players in the art world?

Joins us on March 16 and learn the ropes of the art of collecting with an engaging discussion moderated by Constance Hautier and gathering four key actors of the contemporary art world.
