The Alchemy of Love & The Art of Wine

Join us at Ciao’s for an unforgettable dinner celebrating the intersection between art, wine and the alchemy of love. The experience will be a sensory tour of your senses guided by Lorenza Sebasti from the legendary Tuscan Estate Castello di Ama and internationally renowned artist Kendell Geers.

During TheMerode Art Salon week, the finest Italian food will be paired with some of the best wines from Tuscany, in dialogue with the greatest artists of our time.

Twenty four years ago Castello Di Ama began inviting artists to visit the estate and create a site specific work of art at the intersection of wine, nature, climate and the humanising influence of culture. Lorenza Sebasti and Kendell Geers will host the masterclass with a talk that pairs artists like Daniel Buren, Louise Bourgeois, Jenny Holzer, Hiroshi Sugimoto and Anish Kapoor with the multi award winning wines.

The evening will be a banquet of experiences as Geers and Sebasti will transport your senses into the hills of Tuscany with an animated discussion about how art and wine together embody the alchemy of love.

Kendell Geers

Kendell Geers is a pivotal figure in contemporary African art, whose powerful works explore themes of identity, resistance, and the complex legacies of history. Born in apartheid-era South Africa, Geers' journey from a working-class family to an artist in exile has profoundly shaped his unique artistic language, defying simple categorization. Geers gained international recognition early in his career, with notable participation in the 1997 Johannesburg Biennale and Documenta 11 in 2002, curated by the esteemed Okwui Enwezor. In 2013, Enwezor further cemented Geers' significance by curating his retrospective at the prestigious Haus der Kunst in Munich. Now based in Brussels, Geers continues to push artistic boundaries, creating works that resonate globally while remaining firmly rooted in his African identity and experiences.
