Once a month, TheMerode invites you to experience a new format: the Literary Salon by Elliot Ibouzidene. Here, the notion of a “salon” regains its original meaning — an intimate, contemporary gathering devoted to literature, conceived as a living conversation rather than a formal lecture.
Each session opens with an introductory moment (reading, excerpt, or conceptual perspective), followed by a tea timewith tea, coffee, and mignardises, creating the conditions for a relaxed and collective exchange
The upcoming edition will be dedicated to non-fiction. Starting from a curated selection of essays and contemporary works, the discussion will explore how reality is narrated today through political writing, personal narratives, and new forms of critical thought. Among the proposed references are Un désir démesuré d’amitié by Hélène Giannecchini and Les ingénieurs du chaos by Giuliano da Empoli, two works that respectively question affective bonds and the mechanisms of contemporary power.
Participants will be invited to bring one to three books of their choice to enrich the conversation. A strong emphasis will be placed on spontaneity and improvisation, allowing the exchange to unfold organically and dynamically.
The Literary Salon takes place at TheMerode (Rue aux Laines) in an intimate setting.
Always on Fridays, once a month.
