An exploration of the transformative power of love in all its forms
TheMerode already had the pleasure of welcoming Satish Kumar, environmental and spiritual activist last year. This time our great friend comes back to help us find ways to love ourselves, others, and all beings on planet Earth—even those we may find unlovable.
In his new book, Radical Love, Satish shares his experiences as a lover, parent, activist, and educator into simple lessons on transforming our time of ecological crisis, conflict, and scarcity into one in which we experience harmony with nature, safety, and abundance.
Want to (re)discover how radical love brings joy in life? Come and join us for a fireside talk in our Salon Merode. It will be an opportunity for profound discussions and deep reflection, incorporating the wisdom of poets and mystics, to consider the most powerful force on earth.
Satish will be thrilled to present his latest book, Radical Love, expected to be published in February 2023. Copies will be available on the day of the event. Have your copy signed by Satish after the conference
Timing:
- 19:30 > Welcome and musics

speaker
A former monk and lifelong activist, Satish Kumar has spent more than half a century quietly reshaping how we think about peace, ecology, and purpose. As a young man, he renounced worldly life and set out on a two-year peace pilgrimage—walking thousands of miles to deliver “peace tea” to the leaders of the world’s nuclear powers.
Now in his 80s, Satish remains a tireless advocate for ecological regeneration, social justice, and spiritual well-being. He is the founder of The Resurgence Trust, home to the influential magazine Resurgence & Ecologist, and co-founder of Schumacher College, a pioneering center for transformative education.
A sought-after speaker and author of books such as Elegant Simplicity and Radical Love, Satish has received international awards, honorary doctorates, and continues to champion Gandhian values across cultures and generations.
With clarity, compassion, and quiet conviction, he invites us to imagine—and build—a more beautiful world.
