Midday classical concert: Slavic Romanticism

Smetana’s Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 15, performed by  young talent from the Brussels Conservatory: Trio Sol

In this afternoon dedicated to Slavic Romanticism, Trio Sol performs one of the great chamber works of the 19th century: the Piano Trio in G minor, Op. 15 by Bedřich Smetana.

Formed in 2025, Trio Sol has quickly established itself as a promising young chamber ensemble. The trio has worked with Thomas Dieltjens and Guy Danel at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and participated in masterclasses with leading musicians including Josef Klusoň.

The ensemble made its debut at the Musical Instruments Museum in Brussels with Debussy’s Piano Trio.

Natsumi Dempo began playing the violin at the age of four in Japan. She later studied with Yukiko Igarashi, Yuyo Mori and Aki Saulière. A finalist of the Concours International Arthur Grumiaux pour Jeunes Violonistes in 2020, she has since been selected for the academies of the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, the Orchestre Symphonique de la Monnaie and the Belgian National Orchestra. She has performed with the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra on European tour and is currently a member of the Koinonia Orchestra of Europe. Alongside Trio Sol, she is violist of the Quatuor Ayamé and studies at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles.

Jannat Huseinzoda, born in 2005, began her musical studies in Tashkent and continued at the College of Music and Arts of the Republic of Tajikistan, graduating with honours in 2022. She now studies piano at the Koninklijk Conservatorium of Brussels with Boyan Vodenitcharov and, since 2025, conducting with Bart Bouckaert. Prizewinner at the Steinway Piano Competition Belgium and the Emmanuel Durlet International Piano Competition, she has performed at Bozar and Flagey and is part of the Arte-Amanti Festival Belgium as a Young Talent. Her concert activity also includes programmes highlighting classical Tajik repertoire.

Mario Vander Linden, born in Luxembourg in 2006, began cello at the Conservatory of Esch-sur-Alzette. He has participated in projects such as the Orchestre National des Jeunes du Luxembourg and Concertgebouworkest Young, and has worked in masterclasses with leading cellists including Maria Kliegel, Johannes Moser and Marie Hallynck. In 2024 he performed at the Gala des Lauréats des Conservatoires with the Luxembourg Philharmonic. Since 2023 he studies at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles with Marie Hallynck and Francis Mourey. He is also cellist of the Quatuor Ayamé.

Dominique Corbiau

Born into an artist’s family, Dominique Corbiau became involved in music at the age of four, playing piano, flute, and cello. However, it was through singing that he found his preferred form of expression. Drawn to the baroque period early on, the decision to develop his countertenor voice came naturally. After singing in the Children’s Choir of Belgian Radio and Television, he was admitted to the Royal Conservatories of Liège, Mons, and Brussels, where he graduated in Concert Singing, Opera Singing, and Chamber Music. Since then, Dominique Corbiau has performed in renowned venues across Belgium and abroad, accompanied by numerous prestigious ensembles and orchestras. Although his repertoire is primarily composed of works written for castrato voices, he also embraces romantic art songs and contemporary music, and has recorded several albums spanning diverse musical styles. In addition, he has cultivated the creative dimension of his profession by designing visually captivating performances that often forge connections between different forms of artistic expression. In this spirit, he founded his own company, Sferartefact, as well as the early music ensemble La Camerata Sferica, which represents the culmination of several years of musicological research exploring lesser-known masterpieces of the 17th and 18th centuries.
