Redefining Jazz with Immanuel Kaljouw
TheMerode invites you to start your day immersed in the vibrant and elegant world of jazz, guided by the expressive sound of Immanuel Kaljouw and accompanied by a violinist for a unique musical dialogue.
This special morning format is presented in partnership with Conservamus, a Brussels-based non-profit association dedicated to preserving and supporting musical life in the city. Founded in 2007, Conservamus brings together institutions, artists and civil society around the Royal Conservatories of Brussels, working to safeguard this historic site while fostering the next generation of musicians. Through this collaboration, Conservamus helps bring outstanding young artists to TheMerode, creating new opportunities for musical encounters in the heart of the city.
A talented young jazz musician and graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, Immanuel Kaljouw is currently pursuing a master’s degree in both jazz violin and jazz trumpet at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. Passionate about improvisation and musical exploration, he navigates fluidly between different jazz traditions and influences, developing a versatile and vibrant musical language.
Alongside his studies, he performs through several musical projects, including a jazz quintet, the Bossa Nova and Samba ensemble Vento do Sul, and the gypsy jazz group Hot Swing de Malines. These diverse collaborations nourish his approach to performance, blending rhythm, spontaneity, and lyrical sensitivity.
For this intimate morning concert, Immanuel Kaljouw and his violinist companion will create a refined atmosphere where jazz, Brazilian influences, and melodic improvisation meet in a warm and captivating exchange.
A refreshing and inspiring way to begin the day, accompanied by fresh pastries at TheOtium Bar, as music gently fills the room and sets the tone for the morning ahead — a carefully curated experience designed to awaken curiosity, creativity, and connection through live music.
