In this masterclass, art advisor Beatrice Taevernier takes us through a 101 course on how to start a contemporary art collection.

She covers why collecting contemporary art matters, how to build the knowledge needed to make informed choices, and how to navigate the roles of key art market players such as gallerists, art fairs, and auction houses.

Drawing from her own experience, she will also highlight common pitfalls to avoid and offers practical advice for first-time collectors.

Whether you're curious or ready to take the leap, join us and learn the dos and don’ts of art collecting.

Beatrice Taevernier

Born into a collector’s family, Beatrice Taevernier developed a passion for art at a very young age, leading her to build her own private collection, support prestigious art institutions, and create a dynamic collectors’ circle for contemporary art. After a successful legal career as a lawyer, Legal Director at the Brussels Stock Exchange and criminal judge, she turned her passion into a full- time occupation with the creation of B-Arty – an art advisory and corporate art engagement organization, dedicating herself to providing expert guidance and personalized services for individuals and companies. Until 2019, Beatrice was responsible for the BRAFA’s VIP Programme and in 2016 Art Basel appointed her as VIP representative for their Benelux and Romanian collectors. Throughout her journey, drawing on her social skills, Beatrice has had the opportunity to dialogue with protagonists from all over the global art world, which expanded her network while also fostering meaningful connections.
