From Apple to Saint-Émilion: Redefining the Grand Cru

An intimate wine tasting with Laurent David, the former Apple executive reimagining Bordeaux through sustainability, innovation , and community

Join us for an intimate wine tasting experience with Laurent David, the tech-executive-turned-vintner behind Château Edmus—a two-hectare Saint‑Émilion Grand Cru that’s anything but traditional.

After launching the iPhone across Europe, Laurent left Silicon Valley behind to return to his native Bergerac and reinvent Bordeaux winemaking. At Château Edmus, he brings together sustainability, cutting-edge technology, and a deep respect for the land. Certified organic, biodynamic, and proudly B Corp, the estate produces bold, precise wines—and experiments with new formats like dealcoholized grand crus, gastronomic rosé, and even gin.

But Château Edmus is more than a vineyard. It’s a community of 30 co-owners, and a laboratory for the future: where NFTs govern wine allocations, drones monitor vine health, and blockchain secures every bottle’s provenance.

Each participant in this event will be offered a selection of Edmus wines to taste while Laurent shares the story behind his “next-gen grand cru.” At the heart of his mission? A desire to make wine cool again—while using innovation to serve community, ecology, and beauty.

This event is presented in partnership with the MM Wine Club, an initiative by Media Marketing that brings together the creative, marketing, media, and advertising community over shared experiences. For its second edition, the MM Wine Club joins forces with TheMerode to host an evening that blends content, conversation, and conviviality. Both partners share a belief in meaningful dialogue and curated encounters—values that shape this tasting as much as the wines themselves.

Laurent David

Laurent David is the owner and winemaker at Château Edmus, a boutique organic winery shaking up the Bordeaux region. After a career at Nokia and Apple—where he led the launch of the iPhone across Europe—he returned to his native southwest France in 2019 to pursue a long-held dream: transforming a small Saint‑Émilion Grand Cru into a radically modern wine project. Today, Edmus is certified organic, biodynamic, and B Corp. It produces limited, precise wines and experiments with digital innovation—from NFTs and blockchain to AI and drones. David is also President of La WineTech and founder of Wine Angels, bridging his two worlds: wine and technology.
