Criminal profiling

A look behind the scenes with a specialist trained by FBI agents.

Criminal profiling is often portrayed in fiction, but in real life, the technique serves as an essential tool in investigations. At TheMerode, Danièle Zucker, a leading expert in criminal behavior analysis, will offer a unique opportunity to explore how profiling is used in solving complex, unresolved cases.

Dr. Zucker, who trained with American FBI pioneers in criminal behavior analysis, will provide insights into the principles of profiling, including how a criminal’s actions and behavior at a crime scene reveal key details about their identity - such as their age, socio-economic status, criminal history, and psychological traits. She will also delve into the historical development of profiling, beginning with its integration by the FBI in the 1960s and how it has evolved over the past 40 years. Dr. Zucker will analyse real-life examples and share how profiling techniques are applied to narrow down suspects and link crimes.
