Cellar Society: Argentinan & Chilean Wine Exploration

From the Argentinian Andes to the Chilean Pacific Coast

TheMerode Cellar Society invites you on an immersive wine journey from the Argentinian Andes to the Chilean Pacific Coast, guided by Terra.

During this special session, participants will explore some of South America’s most captivating wine regions, discovering how nature, altitude and oceanic influence shape wines of remarkable character and identity.

The tasting will unfold through the wines of four exceptional estates: Domaine Bousquet and Bodegas CARO in Argentina’s Uco Valley, alongside Chilean icons Viña Errázuriz in the Aconcagua Valley and Los Vascos in Colchagua.

The journey begins in Uco Valley, at the foothills of the Andes, where vineyards stretch between 1,350 and 2,000 meters above sea level, framed by dramatic snow-capped mountains. Beyond the wines themselves, Terra will share his personal connection to this land, recounting his experiences living and working with a gaucho family in the Andes Mountains, riding through the Cordillera and discovering a way of life deeply rooted in nature.

Crossing the mountains into Chile, the exploration continues toward the Pacific Ocean, where cool coastal influences and diverse soils create wines of striking freshness and precision. From the volcanic landscapes of the Aconcagua Valley to the renowned vineyards of Colchagua Valley, participants will discover how climate and terroir shape the identity of each wine.

The tasting will progress through a carefully curated selection of styles: beginning with an Argentine sparkling wine, followed by a high-altitude Chardonnay crafted in a Burgundian spirit, and a vibrant Chilean Sauvignon Blanc influenced by Pacific breezes. The journey then moves into the reds, with powerful Malbecs from Argentina alongside elegant Chilean Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon. A fresh Chilean rosé, perfectly suited to the summer season, and a sweet fortified Malbec served with dessert will complete the experience.

Each wine will be paired with a selection of refined tapas inspired by South American cuisine, thoughtfully designed to highlight and enhance the character of the wines.

More than a tasting, this session is conceived as an immersive exploration of landscapes, cultures and stories, offering a unique perspective on South America’s vibrant wine heritage through Terra’s personal journey.

Calcedonio Terrazzino

Calcedonio TERRAZZINO Wine Explorer – Storyteller of Terroirs Known as “Terra”, Calcedonio TERRAZZINO embodies a deeply cultural and emotional approach to wine. Trained in fine arts, literature, and art history at La Cambre (Brussels), he developed an early artistic sensitivity that continues to shape his vision of wine. A defining moment in his journey came with his discovery of Château Pape Clément, where, upon arrival, he was first struck by the beauty of its Renaissance château—before even turning his attention to the vineyards—and realized that every wine tells a story, a heritage woven from culture, nature, and craftsmanship. For more than 37 years, Terra has selected and represented family-owned wine estates, guided by authenticity, a strong sense of terroir, and a deep cultural legacy (Taittinger, Domaines Barons de Lafite Rothschild, Fontanafredda, Errazuriz, Gérard Bertrand, Philippe Le Hardi, Louis Latour, Bousquet, … ) For him, wine is never just a product: it is a universal language for humanity, a vehicle for traveling. In every glass, he invites you to perceive a landscape, a light, a climate, traditions and cultures — sometimes even the whisper of the wind or the presence of life surrounding the vines. As member of the jury of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (CMB), he takes part in blind tastings alongside international experts, contributing to rigorous and impartial wine evaluation. The son and grandson of Sicilian immigrants, Terra is above all a conveyor of emotion, convinced that a great wine is one that captures its environment and expresses it with authenticity and intensity. With Terra, each tasting becomes a true exploration — a journey through terroirs, cultures, and emotions.
