Antisemitism, islamophobia, and the search for common ground
In a time of growing mistrust and polarisation, can dialogue still bridge the divides that shape our societies?
Two voices from a new generation — Sacha Guttmann and Wassim Allouka — believe it can. Both are committed to resisting hatred in all its forms and to rebuilding solidarity across communities.
Sacha Guttmann, anti-antisemitism activist and former co-president of the Union of Jewish Students in Belgium, has long defended minority visibility in society. He is a founding member of the Golem collective, which seeks to remobilise the left on the issue of combating anti-semitism. The collective is part of a broader movement to converge with other anti-racist, social and societal struggles.
Wassim Allouka, winner of the 2024 Amnesty Youth Human Rights Award and member of Standing Together Belgium, represents a new civic voice. His work promotes dialogue, inclusion, and social justice among a generation determined to transcend inherited divisions.
Together, they open a candid conversation on how to build bridges — not through denial of difference, but through shared humanity and courage.
