How Belgian and Luxembourg actors structure, operate and scale across borders
Private equity and venture capital in Europe are increasingly cross-border in scope. Yet in practice, fund structuring, taxation and regulation remain anchored in national systems.
In that landscape, Luxembourg has become a key jurisdiction for many Belgian fund managers and investors.
This seminar, co-organised with the Luxembourg Private Equity & Venture Capital Association, the Business Club Belgium-Luxembourg and the Embassy of Luxembourg in Brussels, brings together practitioners from both sides for a focused, practical exchange.
What we will cover
1. Legal and tax structuring
What does Luxembourg offer in concrete terms for Belgian managers and investors? This session covers the main structuring options in private markets, with a focus on carried interest, cross-border management setups, and the impatriation regime for international talent.
Mickael Tabart, KPMG
Pauline Roemer, KPMG
Olivier Sciales, Chevalier & Sciales
2. Evergreen private market solutions for wealth platforms
Banks, private banks and wealth management platforms are expanding their private market offerings. This session looks at how Luxembourg structures semi-liquid and perpetual vehicles, and what liquidity, governance and investor onboarding considerations come with them.
Michael Hoffmann, KKR
3. Fund manager perspectives
What does this look like in practice? Fund managers share how they use Luxembourg structures for European distribution, what challenges they encounter, and what has worked well. Expect a direct account of trade-offs, constraints and lessons learned.
Céline Vanbever, Fortino Capital
Filip Van Innis, Fortino Capital
Eric Laux, UBS
4. Digital assets and tokenisation in private markets
Tokenisation is often discussed as a future development. Here, the focus is on current use. What has already been implemented in Luxembourg, how are tokenised assets structured legally, and what do custody, onboarding and secondary market access look like in practice?
Gilles Bropsom, Liberius Legal
Mathieu Cottin, Tokeny
