TheMerode presents a new recurring apéritif format, Behind the Scenes — an intimate series designed to spark genuine exchanges between our members and leading professionals from the cultural field.
Each session is animated by questions previously sent by members to a dedicated mailbox, creating a conversation that is both concrete and directly connected to the interests of our community.
Hosted in a warm, candlelit setting with cocktails and a seated apéritif, Behind the Scenes unfolds as a relaxed one-hour encounter. Guests briefly introduce their journey before engaging in a guided yet fluid discussion shaped by members’ questions. The objective is to explore how creative careers are shaped not only by education and technical skills, but also by encounters, intuition and collaboration.
For this edition, we welcome Scott Lippens, founder and director of Uppercut Space, an Antwerp-based gallery dedicated to collectible design and art furniture. For this specific Behind the Scenes edition at TheMerode, Scott will curate a Black & White seating scenography, selecting a collectible design chair for each guest — transforming the conversation into a living installation that reflects his curatorial vision.
Through Behind the Scenes, members will gain insight into his curatorial process, his vision of the evolving design landscape, and the role galleries play today in shaping new cultural narratives.
