TheMerode presents a new recurring apéritif format, Behind the Scenes — an intimate series designed to spark genuine exchanges between our members and leading professionals from the cultural field.
Each session is animated by questions previously sent by members to a dedicated mailbox, creating a conversation that is both concrete and directly connected to the interests of our community.
Hosted in a warm, candlelit setting with cocktails and a seated apéritif, Behind the Scenes unfolds as a relaxed one-hour encounter. Guests briefly introduce their journey before engaging in a guided yet fluid discussion shaped by members’ questions. The objective is to explore how creative careers are shaped not only by education and technical skills, but also by encounters, intuition, experimentation, and collaboration.
For this edition, we welcome Camille Van Meenen, curator, chef, and cultural producer based between Brussels and Antwerp. Through her multifaceted practice, Camille explores hospitality, collective forms of organisation, and alternative ways of creating and experiencing culture. She currently works as curator at Komplot Brussels, project coordinator of RendezVous – Brussels Art Week, and co-founder of the curatorial collective CASTOR.
Throughout the conversation, members will gain insight into Camille’s unique approach to curating exhibitions, creating collaborative projects, and building meaningful cultural experiences that bring people together. The discussion will also explore the intersections between art, food, publishing, and community-building, as well as the role of empathy, experimentation, and collective thinking in contemporary curatorial practice.
From independent art spaces and international art fairs to immersive dinners and interdisciplinary exhibitions, Camille’s career offers a fascinating perspective on how cultural projects emerge, evolve, and create impact beyond traditional institutional frameworks.
Join us for an intimate exchange on contemporary art, curating, collaboration, and the many ways hospitality can become a creative and cultural tool.
