Behind the booming secondary watch market

As the watch market is undergoing major changes, join legal expert Antoine Rauis for an open conversation on what collectors should know.

From the Rolex “Paul Newman” to the “James Bond” Submariner, certain watches have become legends in their own right. Vintage and modern models influence each other: new releases echo icons of the past, while the vintage market fuels brand prestige with resale prices for certain models now exceeding retail value.

What drives this surge? Where does passion end, and speculation begin?  What makes a watch worthy of being collected? And how do you decide between vintage icons and modern releases?

Antoine Rauis, Belgium’s only legal expert and founder of Collection’Heure, brings 35 years of collecting experience to this talk. He will explore the mechanics of this surge: how market demand evolves, what legal traps to avoid, and where value truly lies.

Participants will gain a clearer view of how regulation, scarcity, and collector behaviour are shaping this fast-changing market—and what it means for those entering it.
