Art Matters: Freemason architecture and Taiwanese serviettes

A conversation with  Taiwanese, Brussels-based  artist Michael Lin, hosted by Kendell Geers. 

Drawing on themes of memory, identity, and cultural heritage, Michael Lin's practice blurs the boundaries between art, architecture, design, and everyday life.

By reinterpreting decorative motifs rooted in Taiwanese domestic culture, he transforms familiar patterns into powerful reflections on history, migration, and collective experience.

For his exhibition Tea Towels and Serviettes, opening in September at La Loge in Ixelles, Michael Lin transforms the former Masonic temple in its entirety into a site-specific installation that engages with the building’s architectural language and the symbolic narratives embedded in its history.
