Chiara Camoni - 2019

Grande Sorella #8

For Chiara Camoni, encountering the mystery of creation is as necessary as eating, drinking, or walking on a sunny day. Her artistic practice is rooted in the idea of flow and fusion with the simple, essential rhythms of everyday life—a space where the current of daily experience pauses, giving rise to autonomous, meaningful forms. Camoni’s works often take shape in her kitchen, occasionally with the help of friends and family who happen to stop by—members of what might be described as her extended studio. Her process feels like an ongoing, organic dialogue with our archaic ancestors.

Chiara Camoni was born in 1974 in Piacenza, Italy, and lives and works in Fabbiano, a mountain village on the Versilian coast in northern Tuscany. Her work has recently been featured in solo exhibitions at CEAAC, Strasbourg, France (2021); CAPC, Bordeaux, France (2020); MOSTYN, Llandudno, Wales, and the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, UK (both 2019). In 2020–21, she participated in Fuori, the 17th Rome Quadriennale at Palazzo delle Esposizioni, as well as in Artifices Instables. Histoires de céramiques at the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco – Villa Sauber. Her exhibition at GAM – Galleria Civica d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea ran until 12 March 2023, and a solo exhibition at Pirelli Hangar Bicocca is scheduled to open in early 2024.
