The Van Eyck brothers’ technique

On the physical and metaphysical dimensions of painting.

Over 500 years later, the paintings of the Van Eyck brothers continue to be celebrated for their extraordinary precision and quality.

A certain aura of mystery surrounds their technique, suggesting that it is not merely about form, but intimately connected to the very essence of their subject. Numerous artists and scholars have explored this relationship, reflecting on inspiration and the act of creation, often offering surprising perspectives.

Drawing on her extensive readings and her own experience as a painter and teacher of this ‘technique,’ Hélène Feye will present a framework for appreciating these works—one that may challenge conventional understanding and reveal new layers of meaning.
