The Talk: Saudi Arabia and the EU

A closed-door conversation with H.E. Ambassador Haifa Al-Jedea on the evolving relationship between Saudi Arabia and Europe, presented in collaboration with NORM Partners and Diplomatic World.

Saudi Arabia’s transformation is reshaping its economic and diplomatic relationships with Europe. From investment and trade to energy, technology and security, new areas of cooperation are emerging — alongside questions about how that relationship should develop.


For this edition of The Talk, TheMerode welcomes H.E. Ambassador Haifa Al-Jedea, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the European Union, for a conversation on the relationship between Riyadh and Brussels.


What does Saudi Arabia seek from a deeper relationship with Europe? Where do European and Saudi interests genuinely align? Which opportunities are emerging for businesses on both sides? And where do differences remain?


Ambassador Al-Jedea will open the evening with a keynote address, followed by a moderated conversation held under the Chatham House Rule.


The discussion will bring together a small, carefully curated group of business leaders, policymakers, diplomats and other decision-makers, allowing the conversation to continue informally over drinks afterwards.

H.E. Ambassador Haifa Al-Jedea

H.E. Ambassador Haifa Al-Jedea is the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the European Union. Her career spans diplomacy, international policy, strategic communications and the private sector. Before her current appointment, she served as Managing Director of SRMG Think. Her previous public-service roles include International Affairs Advisor to the Saudi Minister of Tourism, advisor in the office of Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, and Director of Public Diplomacy at the Saudi Embassy in Washington, D.C. She also worked at the United Nations headquarters in New York on political affairs related to the Middle East. She holds master’s degrees from Columbia University and Syracuse University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University.
