A former monk and lifelong activist, Satish Kumar has spent more than half a century quietly reshaping how we think about peace, ecology, and purpose. As a young man, he renounced worldly life and set out on a two-year peace pilgrimage—walking thousands of miles to deliver “peace tea” to the leaders of the world’s nuclear powers.
Now in his 80s, Satish remains a tireless advocate for ecological regeneration, social justice, and spiritual well-being. He is the founder of The Resurgence Trust, home to the influential magazine Resurgence & Ecologist, and co-founder of Schumacher College, a pioneering center for transformative education.
A sought-after speaker and author of books such as Elegant Simplicity and Radical Love, Satish has received international awards, honorary doctorates, and continues to champion Gandhian values across cultures and generations.
With clarity, compassion, and quiet conviction, he invites us to imagine—and build—a more beautiful world.
