La Table des Voyageurs: Inside the world’s longevity zones

A conversation with Michel Poulain, who mapped the Blue Zones, the communities with the longest life expectancy worldwide.

Registrations will open on July 11 at 6pm.

La Table des Voyageurs, moderated by journalist and travel designer Caroline Chapeaux, invites you to explore the world through the lens of exceptional personalities - journalists, explorers, and writers who travel far beyond the surface.

On September 8, join us for a captivating lunch with Michel Poulain, the pioneering demographer who identified the world’s Blue Zones: Regions known for exceptional longevity.

In 2000, Michel Poulain and Sardinian doctor Gianni Pes verified the ages of centenarians in Sardinia and identified a cluster of villages with the highest longevity. They marked these areas with blue circles on the map, coining the term “Blue Zones.” This concept was later expanded together with Dan Buettner to include other regions with exceptional longevity: Okinawa, Loma Linda, Nicoya, and Ikaria.

Poulain will share his insights into what these regions reveal about living well into one’s nineties and beyond, emphasising the crucial role of human connection, lifestyle, and community in sustaining not just long life, but quality of life.

Beyond research, Poulain advocates integrating these lessons into our societies to foster healthier ageing through diet, social bonds, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Experience this rare opportunity to engage with a leading figure in longevity research and discover how the Blue Zones might inspire a fuller, richer life.
