Belgium’s rising show jumping star on family legacy, competing at the highest level and the unique partnership between horse and rider.
At just 25, Thibeau Spits has already established himself among the leading names in international show jumping. Raised in a family deeply rooted in equestrian sport and breeding, he grew up surrounded by horses before forging his own path at the highest level of competition.
His rise has been remarkably fast. In 2025, Spits was part of the Belgian team that claimed European team gold in A Coruña. In 2026, he reached another milestone at the World Championships in Aachen, winning individual silver with Impress-K van ’t Kattenheye Z and confirming his place among the sport’s new generation of international riders.
Behind those results lies a story of patience, instinct and partnership. Show jumping is one of the rare elite sports in which performance depends on the relationship between two athletes. For Spits, understanding the character, ability and limits of each horse is as important as his own preparation in the saddle.
His story is also one of inheritance and ambition. Coming from a three-generation equestrian family, Spits represents a new chapter in a Belgian tradition that combines breeding, horsemanship, entrepreneurship and international competition.
Join us for lunch with La Table des Cavaliers founder Fabio Ghezzi Morgalanti for a conversation about growing up among horses, performing under pressure, building trust between horse and rider, and what it takes to reach the top of international show jumping at such a young age.
