Examining the place of care in modern working life.
Burnout, anxiety and depression have become defining features of the modern workplace rather than isolated exceptions. In Belgium, cases have risen over recent years, prompting difficult questions that extend well beyond individual resilience. If work affects our mental health, what responsibility do employers have? And where does personal responsibility begin?
In a conversation moderated by Sarah Halfin, philosopher and ethics adviser Jean-Michel Longneaux, philosopher and journalist Pascale Seys, Anne-Sophie Eyméoud, CEO of Rothschild & Co Wealth Management Belgium, and Aline Durand, founder of Aux Racines, discuss the place of care in organisational life.
Together, they will discuss where responsibility for wellbeing should lie, how far employers can reasonably be expected to support their employees, how can leaders care for others without neglecting their own wellbeing, and whether the rise in burnout points to shortcomings within organisations or to broader social pressures. Their exchange invites a closer look at what care means in everyday working life.
This event is a collaboration with the Women Network of Solvay Schools Alumni and l'École Polytechnique de Bruxelles.
