This conversation will explore his experiences and observations as a journalist and editor, covering everything from Chinese espionage to his encounters with Emmanuel Macron. He will share insights into US-Europe-China relations, the growing shift to the right in politics worldwide, and the challenges of an increasingly disrupted media landscape.

Jamil Anderlini

Jamil Anderlini is Politico’s Regional Director in Europe, leading its strategy and presence across the continent while strengthening its global influence. Previously Editor-in-Chief of Politico Europe, he played a key role in its success. An award-winning journalist and published author, Anderlini spent six years as Asia Editor at the Financial Times. In the past, he also held roles as Beijing Correspondent and Beijing Bureau Chief for the Financial Times, Beijing Correspondent for the South China Morning Post, and Chief Editor of the China Economic Review. In 2013, Anderlini was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. Born in Kuwait, he is a US and New Zealand citizen and speaks fluent Mandarin.

Victoria Main is a policy communications expert with a global perspective and an extensive network in Brussels and beyond. Media strategist at SEC Newgate EU, she founded the agency’s award-winning Brussels Calling debates with top EU journalists. Previously Head of Global Media Relations at Nokia, she has extensive experience in both communications and journalism. She has also led media strategy for a major Brussels agency. Victoria began her career as a journalist, most recently working for Reuters in London, and previously in Brussels, Hong Kong, Milan, Paris, and Wellington. She holds French and New Zealand nationality.
