moderator

Emmanuelle Indekeu

Emmanuelle Indekeu is a Belgian curator and cultural strategist whose work unfolds across independent platforms, institutions and international collaborations. In 2015, she became Director of Island, an artist-led platform supporting Belgian and Belgium-based practitioners not represented by galleries, creating a space for visibility, experimentation and dialogue. Her curatorial practice spans both institutional and private spheres. As Chief Art Officer at TheMerode in Brussels, she conceived and structured the art department, defining its cultural vision, developing strategic partnerships, and overseeing exhibitions and patronage initiatives over five years. She also curated Massimo Dutti’s Art in Progress project across Europe, placing contemporary art in dialogue with architecture and brand environments. In parallel, since 2018, she has developed an academic practice at La Cambre, where she lectures and joined the photography department alongside Hervé Charles, reinforcing her commitment to artistic research and transmission. Her approach is guided by the conviction that art is inseparable from intention — that every work, space and encounter carries meaning to be revealed. At ArtOnPaper, she leads the fair’s strategic and curatorial direction, positioning works on paper — ancient, modern and contemporary — as active sites of thought, dialogue and cultural continuity within the Belgian and international art scenes.
