Exclusive guided art walk by Brussels Design Week

Brussels Design Week’s inaugural edition

Join us for an exclusive guided design walk with TheMerode and Brussels Design Week, organised especially for TheMerode members.

On Friday 2 October, discover Brussels through a curated selection of design exhibitions and creative spaces, from contemporary galleries to cultural institutions. Guided by Elizabeth Djam, passionate about heritage, interior architecture and design and Artistic Director of Brussels Design Week since 2020, this intimate walk offers a unique perspective on Brussels’ vibrant design scene.

The tour will take you through four distinctive venues, each offering a different perspective on materials, craftsmanship, architecture, fashion and contemporary design.

Friday 2 October | 2:00–5:00 PM

Focus: Brussels Design Week

Meeting point: TheMerode Club, Place Poelaert

The walk will include:

14:00 | Departure — Place Poelaert

We will begin our journey on foot towards the different stops along the route.

14:05–14:35 | Augusta Gallery — Soft Assemblies

Hosted by Lara and Ariane Van Dievoet

Discover Soft Assemblies, an exhibition exploring weaving and braiding through the work of six European designers. Bringing together natural and reused materials, the exhibition explores how textures and craftsmanship can create new forms and perspectives.

14:50–15:25 | The Dominican — A Secular Chapel

Hosted by Nicole Brock

Presented by Rempart44 and curated by Nicole Brock, A Secular Chapel explores the traces of faith and collective rituals within this historic setting. Designers transform objects, materials and narratives into invitations to reflect, rather than objects of devotion.

15:35–16:00 | O.NION by G&J CO.LAB

Hosted by Julie Denis

Following their U.NION project, G&J CO.LAB presents O.NION, a textile project exploring the body through layers, materials and gestures. Weaving, knitting, felting, embroidery and beading come together in a deep monochrome black composition that exists both as a wall piece and as clothing.

16:05–17:00 | MAD Brussels

Hosted by Anaïs Sandra Carion

The visit will conclude at MAD Brussels, where the institution presents an exhibition celebrating the winners of the Knack Weekend / Le Vif Weekend Designer of the Year Award, alongside a selection of 14 graduating students from Brussels’ design and fashion schools as part of the MAD Graduation Show 2026.

This guided walk offers an intimate opportunity to discover Brussels through design, meet creative voices and connect with fellow TheMerode members along the way.
