Three voices from martial arts, philanthropy, and music explore what it means to master your craft and then change direction.

The third session of “In Determination Mode”, co-curated by TheMerode and Darby Lubamba Conseil, in partnership with Rothschild & Co, turns its attention to discipline, creative identity, and the courage to build a life across more than one field.

Alka Matewa, Anne-Catherine Chevalier, and Dan Klein each embody a different expression of dedication and reinvention. From high-performance sport and acting to philanthropy, photography, music, and creative strategy, their journeys reveal the power of pursuing excellence while embracing new dimensions of oneself.

Together, they will explore what it means to stay committed to a demanding path, develop mastery, and find the courage to evolve when a new direction emerges.

The discussion will be moderated by Wafaa Hammich, founder of Com’for It.

Alka Matewa is a Muay Thai champion and actor who has appeared in several international productions. His career traces an unusual arc: from the discipline and physical intensity of elite combat sport to the demands of professional acting. Along the way, he has developed a remarkable capacity for adaptation, bringing the same rigour and focus to two very different arenas. Anne-Catherine Chevalier is the Director of the Bernheim Foundation, where she works to support impactful projects in entrepreneurship, innovation, and societal transition. Her mission is to help transformative initiatives emerge and take root. Alongside her institutional role, she maintains an active practice as a photographer, bringing a distinctive eye to both fields. A career defined by meaningful commitments rather than conventional progression, she has consistently chosen to invest her time and energy in projects that carry purpose. Her dual practice reflects a conviction that rigour and creativity are not opposites but necessary partners.

Dan Klein is the founder of Cult Music Bureau, working at the intersection of music, branding, and experience. He develops sonic identities for restaurants, hotels, shops, and coworking spaces in Belgium and internationally, with clients including New Balance and Bellerose. A musician and creative, he has also contributed to major music projects, including the track Nocif by Hamza and Damso. His work operates across the full spectrum of sound: from the intimate atmosphere of a room to the commercial resonance of a brand. At Cult Music Bureau, he builds immersive sonic worlds designed to leave a lasting impression.
