'En mode Détermination' : Craft, culture and ambition

Three entrepreneurs who built audiences and businesses on their own terms open the day with a conversation about passion, identity, and impact.

The opening session of “In Determination Mode”, a full day of talks dedicated to resilience and perseverance, co-curated by TheMerode and Darby Lubamba Conseil, in partnership with Rothschild & Co, brings together three entrepreneurs who have forged their own paths beyond the conventional playbook.

Alexandre Helson, Marie-Claire Ilunga (MC Au Naturel), and Mélissa Onana each represent a different expression of entrepreneurial ambition — from heritage and craftsmanship to community building, cultural storytelling, and sports management.

Together, they will explore how passion, authenticity, and conviction shape the journey from an idea to a lasting impact. What does it mean to build something that reflects who you are and stands the test of time?

The session will be moderated by Duke Tshomba, co-founder of Duse Magazine, director of A Better Place, and former professional athlete.
