Join Georges-Louis Bouchez (MR) and Theo Francken (N-VA) as they engage in a debate on the pressing issues of the upcoming elections.

On the 9th of June Belgian citizens are called to vote in the regional and federal elections. In the face of the multiple national and international crises that have punctuated the last five years, these elections are of particular importance for Belgium.

In a debate moderated by journalist Laurent Haulotte, Theo Francken and Georges-Louis Bouchez will exchange viewpoints on a range of crucial topics, including immigration, security, economic policy, and the future of Belgium within the European Union.


Amidst political polarization and societal challenges, this debate serves as a thought-provoking platform, inviting active engagement in exploring divergent perspectives and shaping informed decisions.

Theo Francken is a member of the Belgian Parliament for the Flemish liberal-conservative party N-VA, currently the biggest party in Belgium, since 2010. He served as State Secretary for Asylum and Migration in the center-right Belgian federal government Michel 1, between 2014 and 2018. In Parliament, he is a member of the Defence Committee and of the Special Committee for the Follow-up of Missions Abroad. Theo Francken is known for his staunch support of both the Atlantic alliance and a stronger Belgian defence apparatus. He has been a member of Nato’s Parliamentary Assembly since 2019. Currently he is the head of the Belgian delegation and a member of its Political Committee and the Special Group for the Mediterranean and Middle East.

Georges-Louis Bouchez is a Belgian liberal politician. A law graduate, he entered politics in 2006. Alderman for Finance, the Budget, Employment, Sustainable Development and Information Technology in Mons, he became a municipal councillor of Mons in 2018. In 2019, he became a co-opted senator and was elected president of the Mouvement Réformateur.

Mr. Laurent Haulotte, with over 28 years of experience in journalism, including serving as Director of Information and Sports at RTL Belgium, will chair the debate. Mr. Haulotte is well-known for his exceptional skills in hosting RTL’s prominent political programs.
