Cellar Society: A Gala Evening for Handicap International

TheMerode Cellar Society: An evening of Piedmontese wine and gastronomy in support of Handicap International

Join us for a special edition of TheMerode Cellar Society
in support of Handicap International, bringing together solidarity,
gastronomy and exceptional wines.

For this exclusive gala dinner, we turn to Piedmont and
Fontanafredda
, one of the region’s most renowned wine estates and a
historic name in Barolo. Ten wines from the estate will be paired with a
five-course menu designed especially for the occasion.

Your guide

Throughout the evening, Calcedonio Terrazzino, wine expert
and jury member of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, will guide guests through
the tasting, sharing the history, terroir and traditions of Piedmont and
introducing each of the wines served throughout the dinner.

The wines

The selection spans ten wines from Fontanafredda, including
Gavi, Barbera, Barolo and Moscato d’Asti, followed by a Grappa di Barolo.

At the heart of the tasting is a side-by-side comparison of
two vintages of Vigna La Rosa Barolo: 2011 and 2017. A rare opportunity
to discover how one of Fontanafredda’s celebrated Barolos evolves over time.

Why we gather

The evening is held in support of Handicap International, an
organisation committed to supporting people with disabilities and vulnerable
populations affected by conflict, disaster and crisis.

Antoine Sépulchre, Managing Director of Handicap
International Belgium, will share more about the organisation’s mission, its
impact and its work around the world.

An opportunity to come together around an exceptional table,
discover remarkable wines and, above all, support Handicap International’s
mission.

Guests will gather around tables of ten. Members can host a
table and invite up to nine guests, or reserve individually and join another

Calcedonio Terrazzino

Calcedonio TERRAZZINO Wine Explorer – Storyteller of Terroirs Known as “Terra”, Calcedonio TERRAZZINO embodies a deeply cultural and emotional approach to wine. Trained in fine arts, literature, and art history at La Cambre (Brussels), he developed an early artistic sensitivity that continues to shape his vision of wine. A defining moment in his journey came with his discovery of Château Pape Clément, where, upon arrival, he was first struck by the beauty of its Renaissance château—before even turning his attention to the vineyards—and realized that every wine tells a story, a heritage woven from culture, nature, and craftsmanship. For more than 37 years, Terra has selected and represented family-owned wine estates, guided by authenticity, a strong sense of terroir, and a deep cultural legacy (Taittinger, Domaines Barons de Lafite Rothschild, Fontanafredda, Errazuriz, Gérard Bertrand, Philippe Le Hardi, Louis Latour, Bousquet, … ) For him, wine is never just a product: it is a universal language for humanity, a vehicle for traveling. In every glass, he invites you to perceive a landscape, a light, a climate, traditions and cultures — sometimes even the whisper of the wind or the presence of life surrounding the vines. As member of the jury of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (CMB), he takes part in blind tastings alongside international experts, contributing to rigorous and impartial wine evaluation. The son and grandson of Sicilian immigrants, Terra is above all a conveyor of emotion, convinced that a great wine is one that captures its environment and expresses it with authenticity and intensity. With Terra, each tasting becomes a true exploration — a journey through terroirs, cultures, and emotions.
