Business with heart: Private sector and Social Impact

How can the private sector drive social impact for displaced communities? Join us to discover innovative solutions and success stories.

In a world marked by conflicts and climate disasters, nearly 120 million people were displaced by April 2024, according to UNHCR. Aid agencies, NGOs, and governments provide essential relief, but sustainable, long-term solutions are needed.

The private sector can play a crucial role with innovative models to support refugees. The UNHCR in Belgium is working with companies and philanthropists to develop these solutions.

Organized by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency,  and hosted by theMerode, our event features a talk with four speakers: Jean Nicolas Beuze (representative UNHCR), Francois De Borchgrave (Co-Founder Kois, Caring Finance), Jan Van Geet (Ceo of VGP), and Jeny BSG (dancer, choreographer, entrepreneur). Each speaker is deeply involved in efforts to improve the lives of refugees.

After the discussion, enjoy a networking event with Belgian wines offered be Mondevino, snacks, and a DJ set by Bader. Born to a Libyan mother and a Syrian father, Bader’s music fuses his MENA heritage with western beats.

Refugees are not passive recipients; they are innovators. Rather than leaving them in limbo, let us give them the opportunity to use their skills and thrive in the communities that have opened their doors to them.
