An exclusive invitation to the high-level closing plenary of the ECIT Summer University 2026.
Trust in democratic institutions rarely disappears overnight. It erodes gradually, particularly when citizens and especially young Europeans struggle to see their skills, engagement and experiences fully recognised across borders.
At a time when democratic participation is under increasing pressure, how do we educate active citizens rather than simply inform them of their rights?
The European Citizens Rights, Involvement and Trust (ECIT) Foundation concludes its Summer University with a high-level plenary dedicated to these questions. Bringing together policymakers, education leaders, civil society representatives and young people from across Europe, the discussion will centre on All on Board, a European Citizens' Initiative designed to strengthen civic education, expand meaningful cross-border learning and mobility opportunities, and improve the recognition of skills and competences acquired across the European Union.
The plenary will conclude with the presentation of recommendations developed throughout the Summer University, inviting policymakers and key stakeholders to reflect on the future of European citizenship.
On this occasion, TheMerode opens its doors to forty of our members alongside forty young participants from across Europe, creating a unique space for dialogue between generations that are each helping shape the same institutions from complementary perspectives.
