Where conversations lead

How an unexpected meeting at TheMerode became a new chapter for a growing brand.

What happens when a casual conversation at TheMerode turns into a friendship, then into a professional collaboration?

This conversation brings the “TheMerode Effect” to life through one very real example: how two members met at the club, and how an unexpected connection led to new ideas and a creative partnership.

Elin Traustadóttir, founder of Icelandic marine collagen brand AEYLÍN, and Elizabeth Dewar, founder and Creative Director of Violet Rae, met at TheMerode at very different points in their personal and professional journeys. What began as a connection at a Merode Event developed naturally through conversations in the coworking space, eventually growing into a creative collaboration. They will share how the relationship evolved, what each brought to the other, and how conversations, ideas and opportunities can emerge when the right people happen to meet in the right place.

Join us for an informal conversation about friendship, creative collaboration, unexpected connections and the possibilities that can come from simply being in the room.

Elin Traustadottir

Elin Traustadóttir is the founder of AEYLÍN, an Icelandic marine collagen brand. She has spent the past decade developing the business from a science-led formulation into a growing consumer brand, navigating everything from innovation funding and pharmaceutical distribution in Iceland to expansion across the UK and Europe. After nine years of building AEYLÍN, joining TheMerode came at a point when she was ready to think differently about the brand and where it could go next. A conversation with Elizabeth eventually became part of that next chapter.

Elizabeth Dewar

Elizabeth Dewar is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Violet Rae, a brand strategy and communications consultancy working across Europe and the GCC. Along with her business partner/sister, she helps businesses figure out what they stand for, how they should show up and how to make that matter to the people they want to reach. Elizabeth joined TheMerode while building Violet Rae and met Elin through the everyday conversations that happen around the club. What started as a friendship eventually became a creative collaboration, giving her a front-row seat to the challenges and possibilities of reinventing a brand that had already been nine years in the making.
