“We are coming out of a crisis unprecedented since the war, Roland Gillet says. The efforts of governments to save whole sections of the economy that had been shaken are coming to an end."

Roland Gillet observes with a keen eye the recovery plans that should get us out of the crisis. His main fear: spending public money on unprofitable projects that would add to an already high debt burden.

“We had to step in and add another layer of debt when we already had limited fiscal room to maneuver before the crisis. All the problems that were on the table before – I’m thinking of the pension issue, among others – are going to come back,” warns the economist.

Join B19 at TheMerode for an exclusive conversation with Roland Gillet about the economic perspectives for the upcoming year.

Conference moderated by John-Alexander Bogaerts
