Aaron Bobrow stretches tarps into wall-mounted pieces that blur the distinctions between painting, sculpture, and found-object art. Acquiring the tarps through barter, purchase, and recycling, he renounces control over the materials he discovers and uses, incorporating an element of chance and the accidental into his aesthetic decision-making. The stains, holes, folds, and patterns in the tarps simultaneously act as a coded history of the materials and abstract compositions.
Born in San Francisco, CA, 1985, Bobrow ives and works in New York.
