In 1976, François won the Olympic Games in Montreal. He entered the track to never leave it again.
La Table des cavaliers was born from the desire to bring together equestrian enthusiasts around fascinating personalities from the equestrian world. Each edition honours a champion, sometimes a legend or a key personality. So far, the esteemed series of events has welcomed Nelson Pessoa, Pierre Durand, Felix Marie Brasseur, Anne d’Ieteren and Ingmar de Vos.
The Table has only 24 seats and cultivates the ambition to offer everyone the possibility to participate in a conversation around the guest of the day. Join us for this brand new event, a beautiful lunch with Belgian Olympian François Mathy, a legend and leader in the sport.
The Rider: François Mathy
François Mathy was born in December 1944 in Brussels. His father was a cereal salesman in Liege, where the whole family lived and spent every weekend in the countryside. This was an opportunity to ride horses as a complete amateur. An amateur who was certainly more gifted than the average.
It was at the age of eighteen that Mathy tried and won his first jumping competition. As a rider and businessman with an exceptional flair he developed both his talent and his horses. In 1962 in Aywaille, surrounded by valleys and rivers, the François Mathy stable was built.
In 1976, François won the Olympic Games in Montreal. He entered the track to never leave it again. Come and meet him this Tuesday 24 January around the Riders’ Table over lunch.
