Frederique Ficheroulle
Born and raised in Brussels in a family of architects, graphic designers, photographers and conceptual art gallerist, Frédérique could not have grown in a better environment to become a designer.
After studying Interior Architecture & Design at the College of Advertising and Design in Brussels, she starts in 2013 to work with Nathalie Dewez (Belgian Designer of the Year 2011), specialized in lighting design and for Jean-François D’Or (Belgian Designer of the Year 2013), industrial designer.
In 2015, Frédérique starts her own projects and chooses to work porcelain with her own hands and creates the mood cups collection. In love with the material and curious to explore further its potential, she continues the next projects in porcelain as well. Although that specialization does not stop her from interest in other materials and wihtin the studio starts to grow a material library.
Very interested by any industrial or handicraft making process, she gives a great importance to dialogues for the varied collaborations, whether it is with the client or the manufacturer. Always curious to explore unknown grounds, she likes to search ‘out of the box’ and bring a concept or storytelling to her projects. and develops sensitive, well balanced, human products, which evolve in symbiosis with its environment.
Anita Le Grelle
Anita le Grelle is Belgian, born and raised in Antwerp. After her degree in graphic design and a promising career in Brussels, she moved to London to follow her husband. Whilst raising her five children, she progressively became eager to express her creativity, confronting her hands with matter.
She followed a full British curriculum, focusing on sculpture, and graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2000. In 2002 she settles in Brussels and set ups her home studio, carrying on the work she started across the Channel. As a sculptor Anita relentlessly explores creativity, defining her own world of inspired fantasy – exhibiting across Europe, displaying a series of pieces crafted with impeccable technical skills.
In 2013, she haphazardly experiments with pottery. It is a revelation, perfectly suited to the highly practical component of her personality. She proceeded to create charming and tasteful enamelled bowls, cups, plates and dishes, which immediately attracted numerous professionals. After many bespoke orders, Anita turned a passion project into her business, building Terres de Rêves into an internationally renowned company thanks to the help of Serax.
Today Anita and her daughter (Pauline Meeus) design homeware collections and continue to create bespoke ceramics for the world’s most demanding clients, all handcrafted in their Brussels studios.
Leonardo Rousseau (atelier epiney)
Leonardo is a French ceramist currently living in Brussels. After various artistic and manual experiences, he started in 2017 a professional training, specializing in ceramics. Inspired and influenced by Japanese and Korean ceramics, his work is characterized by pure forms with natural tones. The bare clay is in dialogue with subtle and sometimes textured glazes highlighting the imperfections and the work of the hand. Her favorite clays are colored and often lightly grogbed. All pieces are handmade.
Kim Verbeke
“I’ve met earth when I was already been living in it for many years … I had never looked at it from that angle! My first internship with Myriam le Paige was a real discovery, a door that I opened slowly, and something revealed itself in me. I am a biologist and have always been very attached to Nature and its wonders. It is therefore natural that I developed a fascination for this art: touching the earth, feeling it transform under my hands and understanding its nature to learn to create. After a few years at the Bibenbou workshops, I discovered that ceramics calls for many techniques, each with its own rhythm, and that I appreciate: the preparation of the clay, the various movements to give it shape, the types of firing and the chemistry of the glazes. I like to be in contact with this clay in its raw state and let my hands and my mind dream to create. I appreciate the opportunity to act on every step of the creative process.”
