Bigger Than Us – the inspiring documentary that moved us all last October – is coming back to TheMerode. A “youth quake” for the better good. Young people are changing the world. And they are proving that every effort – big or small – counts.
Renowned film producer and activist Flore Vasseur travelled the world with her team meeting the young people at the forefront of change. The documentary film “Bigger Than Us” is an inspiring encounter with those changemakers, revealing their courage, joy and commitment.
Dig deeper into the conversations it sparks during this unique dinner at your club, with producer Flore Vasseur and protagonist Winnie Tushabe, who will be sharing their drive, action, impact, and some “behind-the-scenes” of a movie that is witnessing worldwide success (distributed in over 50 countries, Selected in 36 international festival among which Cannes 2021).
Winnie Tushabe, the young lady fighting extreme poverty in Uganda through permaculture, will share her story, her turning point and her unique experiences. “I survived school dropout, I survived early marriages and giving birth too early, I survived that, and then I survived this life that is not meaningful. Because I looked at myself as someone who came from the grass-root, I should also help my fellows come from that and survive.”
“Bigger Than Us was about giving kids new role models”, says Vasseur. “To be able to connect to stories where they feel this is for them, not adults preaching, but real concrete examples of people like them doing big or small things, and changing lives, wherever they are. This trend of young people taking action, and not asking for the permission, is everywhere.”
