The best of both worlds between social club and business club, TheMerode is a particular club in a hôtel particulier, right in the heart of Brussels. Officially launched in 2021 with a desire to create an environment for solving real world challenges, we connect people and enable important conversations and ideas in a fun and relaxing setting. TheMerode is made up of the club, our valued community, and our programme.

Our elegant home is a private historical building that has been newly renovated for our community’s needs. We have relaxed and collaborative spaces for co-working, small and large event spaces, and meeting rooms, as well as a library, lounge bar, and cinema. Our restaurant, Ciao, opened in March 2021, and is currently headed up by Michellin-Starred French chef Isabelle Arpin. Hanging from the walls of TheMerode you will find a revolving collection of artworks from contemporary Belgian artists and masters such as Picasso.

TheMerode’s vibrant community is an active network of curious individuals coming together to build meaningful relationships, share ideas and initiate collaborations. Our members are a diverse group of different ages, genders, nationalities, and professions, from all walks of life.

As a place for ideas to take shape and take off, our events programme is at the heart of what we do. About the role:
TheMerode is seeking a Front Desk Receptionist. You will join the Community team and help them create a great experience for our members at TheMerode.
You will be the first point of contact of our members at the reception, guide them in the club and ensure a warm welcome in addition to help them with any requests or question.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build strong personal relationships with all stakeholders
  • Always be informed and knowledgeable on what is happening at TheMerode
  • Always ensure a warm welcome to all members and guests. Be friendly, courteous and polite.
  • To recognize repeat members and guests ensuring we understand all their requirements and preferences, ensuring that the clients feel valued
  • Make update on members updates in the ERP system
  • Answer phones promptly with a warm friendly tone
  • Direct people to the relevant areas and unit guests with their members
  • Handle the administrative aspects of the club
  • Supports and contributes to the overall success of TheMerode
  • Coordinate the cleaning team depending on events and club’s activities
  • Alongside your key duties you may be asked to complete other tasks as and when necessary and reasonably required in line with business needs.

Personal Skills:

  • Has strong interpersonal skills needed to build trust amongst employees at all levels
  • Is a ‘team-player’ and enjoys working in partnership with colleagues
  • Views individual differences to build new ideas and innovations
  • “Owns” problems and find solutions

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience hosting or in the horeca sector is a plus
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication
  • Passion for delivering excellent guest service
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team
  • Excellent organizational
  • Trilingual: NL – FR – EN
